NEVER KNEW I WANTED SOMETHING LIKE THIS
“You are such a dimwit, Potter! I can't believe I was paired with you in potions, Snape should know better!”
Draco was absolutely fuming. He was aiming to have the best potions grade this year - it was his last chance to beat Granger after all - and then he got assigned to create a complicated potion with
Potter.Potter, who claims to be so clever and resourceful but has absolutely no skills in potions. How on earth did he manage to get to N.E.W.T.s class was still a mystery to Draco.
“Are you sure it wasn't
you, who put the wrong ingredients in?” Potter snapped while standing up from the floor and dusting his robes.
“Am I sure? Am I -”
Potter raised his hands for surrender.
“Fine! It was probably me, are you happy? Now stop screaming and let's find out where we are.”
“I don't care where we are!” Draco hissed. “We need to get back, right now!”
Harry rolled his eyes but didn't answer. He lit up his wand and looked around - they appeared to be in someone's living room. It looked really cozy and Harry immediately felt at ease. It vaguely reminded him of the Burrow, although it was less messy and looked more organized but it had the same relaxed, homely vibe.
Draco came to the same conclusion and sneered.
“This place looks ridiculous. You know where we are?”
“Don't tell me this isn’t your scene, Malfoy. Those multicolored couch cushions scream your fashion sense.”
“HOW DARE -”
“Papa, why are you yelling?”
Draco screamed and jumped in the air, then quickly scrambling his way behind Harry who put his arm between Draco and the threat.
The ‘threat’ being a young boy, standing at the doorway and looking at them with a confused expression.
“Umm,” Harry began awkwardly, “who are you?”
The boy sniggered.
“Were you doing adult stuff again? You always play dumb when you do!”
Draco was clinging on Harry's arm and looked absolutely terrified.
“What the hell is happening? Why did that kid call me papa? Why does he think we're doing adult stuff in their living room? Potter, I'm freaking out!”
“Yet you're being so subtle about it,” Harry hissed and tried to smile to the small boy who started looking more and more confused.
“Dad? Is everything okay?”
Was the kid… Did he think…
NoWhat? No“I think,” Harry whispered to Draco as quietly as possible, “he thinks we're his… parents.”
Draco's face went blank.
“You're going to wake up baby Scorpius if you don't keep it down,” the boy declared and crossed his tiny arms, “and he's not going to be happy about it.”
And that was the moment when Draco decided to pass out.

When Draco came back to his senses he was lying on the couch, covered with blankets. Potter was sitting in the loveseat next to him, holding on the small blond-haired boy who looked like he'd been crying.
“See, he's waking up already. Everything's just fine.”
Potter was speaking in a quiet, calming voice and the small boy hiccuped while turning to look at Draco.
“Little
James here was afraid there's something wrong with you,” Potter said and looked at Draco meaningfully, “but I told him that you were just really exhausted from taking care of the baby.”
OhOh, so that was real“Umm,” Draco mumbled, “yes, I'm… I'm fine. Just really, really tired.”
The boy,
James, looked at him for a while before nodding.
“Scorpius likes to cry and keep us awake,” he whispered, “but don't tell him I said that! I love him! I'm going to be the greatest big brother there is!”
Harry laughed at that and Draco's irrational head thought it sounded nice.
“I'm sure you already are. But how about you go back to bed and I take papa to sleep too?”
“Okay. But be sure you check on Scorpius! And don't tell him what I said about him crying,” James looked at both of them with a serious expression and Harry promised not to say a word.
James hopped off from Harry's lap, gave Draco a quick peck on the cheek, with a quiet
‘I'm glad you’re okay, papa!’ and then left the room.
Draco stared after him before turning to Potter.
“What was that?”
Potter took a deep breath and brushed his hand through his already messy hair.
“Apparently that was our son, James Potter. And our new born baby
Scorpius is sleeping in the next room.”
There was a small smile on Potter's face before he continued, “and you have declared many times that there is not going to be any more babies in this household unless we hire a nanny.”
Draco had no idea why, but the idea of having babies,
a family, with Potter, made him blush.
“So what, are we in a… dream? Or in the future?”
Harry just shrugged.
“I have no idea.”
And Draco had no idea why he hoped it was the latter.

It turned out that getting back to the Potion's classroom was easier than they thought. The effect the potion had on them wore off pretty quickly and they woke up sitting next to their still bubbling cauldron.
“Twenty points from Gryffindor,” Snape said with a sneer and continued his mission to make other students miserable.
Harry couldn't care less. He turned to look at Malfoy, who looked back with an odd expression on his face.
Harry thought it looked like excitement.
