Paring: Anakin Skywalker/Obi-Wan Kenobi (if you squint)
Summary: When he got like this, his emotions too loud and too raw, there was only one thing that could help him find temporary peace
A/N: Tämä ensikosketukseni kyseiseen paritukseen on juhannustaika Violle, joka huutaa mun kanssa näistä kahdesta idiootista ♥ Olen 17 vuotta myöhässä shippaukseni kanssa, mutta better late than never? Obi-Wan Kenobi -sarja herätti mussa tunteita, joita en tiennyt olevankaan ja nämä kaksi ovat vieneet mun sydämeni täysin. OTP:n aineksia on siis vahvasti havaittavissa :'3 Teksti on inspiroitunut Vion juhannustaikatoiveesta, mutta myös tästä ihanasta fanartista (S). Wallelle suuren suuri kiitos, en olisi taas päässyt epävarmailustani yli ilman apua ♥ Ajallisesti tämä sijoittuu johonkin Revenge of the Sithin alkuun ja Anakin/Padmé didn't happen.
Haasteet: Olkoon Voima kanssasi II ja TROPES - hurt/comfort
SOOTHE MY MIND
The Starfighter’s quiet, soothing rumble usually helped Anakin to relax and eventually fall asleep, but this time he was too restless, still on edge after the battle on Vanqor.
The battle, where he once again came too close to losing Obi-Wan.
They were on their way back to Coruscant, to the Council, for a mission debrief before, undoubtedly receiving another one. The war was getting closer, more brutal, and it was already starting to wear Anakin down.
He took a deep breath and once again tried to release his emotions into the Force. He closed his eyes, trying to quiet his mind so he could finally fall into a much-needed sleep, but nothing helped. The engine’s soft hum was annoying instead of calming, and his always agitated mind was even worse than usual. When he got like this, his emotions too loud and too raw, there was only one thing that could help him find temporary peace.
Anakin knew that seeking comfort from their old master wasn’t something that the Jedi usually did, but he needed it.
He
ached for it.
“I thought we agreed that you should get some sleep,” Obi-Wan said with a deep sigh when Anakin returned to the cockpit.
The Starfighter was flying on autopilot, but Obi-Wan had insisted on taking the first watch. Anakin knew that his former master worried for him, but he also knew that after missions like this, Obi-Wan himself couldn’t sleep. There were dark circles under his eyes, his usually immaculate robes were torn and dirty, and Anakin could feel his exhaustion through their bond. His own body was sore and aching, and after the few nasty blows Obi-Wan got during the battle, he had to feel even worse.
But he didn’t show it. Obi-Wan always took care of others - especially Anakin - first.
When Anakin didn’t answer, Obi-Wan turned to look at him with tired, worried eyes.
“Anakin?”
“Couldn’t sleep,” Anakin muttered while motioning towards his head, “too… loud.”
Obi-Wan’s gaze turned soft, and he spread his arms leaning back in his chair.
“Come here.”
And Anakin went without hesitation. He lay down partly on top of Obi-Wan, sighing softly when Obi-Wan’s fingers found their way into his hair. Being close to him has always calmed Anakin's emotions a lot better than any meditation.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Obi-Wan finally asked softly.
“I just… I don’t like this.
Any of this. Something is wrong, I can feel it in the Force.”
Obi-Wan hummed in agreement, and Anakin tightened his hold on him.
“And I can’t protect you if you don’t listen to me on the battlefield. I
told you to retreat. You could’ve died.”
“Protect me?” Obi-Wan asked, sounding surprised. “I can assure you Anakin, I can take care of myself. It is not your job to -”
“But it is. I
have to keep you safe. I… I can’t lose you.”
The silence between them grew hot and heavy, and suddenly Anakin felt embarrassed. He moved a bit, ready to get up, but Obi-Wan’s soft voice stopped him.
“Don’t,” he said quietly.
“Please.”This time a little more hesitant, Anakin lay back down. But Obi-Wan just ran his fingers through Anakin’s messy curls again, before pressing a soft kiss on top of his head, and Anakin leaned towards the touch, relaxing.
They lay there for a long time, just looking at the stars around them, enjoying the closeness.
Eventually, Anakin’s exhaustion started to catch him. He thought about fighting it, not wanting to miss a second of peace and quiet with his former master, but Obi-Wan kept petting his hair, whispering
“Sleep, dear one,” and at that moment Anakin didn’t have any fight left in him to resist.
