&: tällainen pieni idea tuli mieleeni lukiessani tänään englannin 2. kurssin kirjaa "Profiles". Siellä on New York teksti ja otsikko on tekstistä. Haluaisin joskus New Yorkkiin, ihailen sitä paikkaa hirveästi ja mahdollisuuksia ja ihmisiä ja paikkoja ja ties mitä! Sinne on pakko päästä! Tässä siis pieni fiilistely nuoren ihmisen näkökulmasta. In English! Comments, anyone? Or are ya'll just chillin' along with ma text?
♫ Frank Sinatra: New York, New York
NYC dazzles, wear shadesNew York. Finally I made my way to here.
The sights are out of this world. There are a lot of bumper stickers saying
NYC dazzles, were shades and
I want to be a part of it, New York. I think the last one was from Frank Sinatra’s song “New York, New York”. I can almost hear that song in my head when I’m walking on these streets.
Empire State of Building is sick. It’s so huge – tall and stuff. I can’t even look at it without feeling a little bit hazy. And Broadway! Oh my, Broadway, my future. I’m going to be a star one day and I can almost see myself dancing on the stage during
Chicago or
Wicked. Those neon billboards are breath-taking, advertising new movie, toothbrush or the latest version of
Evita. Museum of Modern Art looks so odd and yet it fits perfectly to NYC. I’m impressed. I have to get there!
Central park seems like the lungs of this city. It’s so fresh and big. I can see dozens of people around there, jogging and taking little picnics. I can’t actually believe that those yellow taxes, oh well pardon,
cabs, are real! I took a trip on the other day and it was outstanding. I just chilled in the car while a driver of the cab, Jamaican guy with long dreadlocks, talked to me about his life and asked how it is in Finland. I had to think for a moment because I had totally forgotten a whole home country!
The air isn’t the best one in there. Being an asthmatic is challenging around here, but I have my asthma pipe and I can always go to Central Park. The air is the worst only in the busiest places in the center and I carry my pipe always in my new handbag which even isn’t mine. I couldn’t believe it at first when I saw a rental company for handbags!
Handbags! I had to try it. Now I’m carrying Louis Vuitton on my arm.
There is one thing that disgusts me more than the air of the busiest place and that’s public transit. There are eight million people in New York and add to that, all the tourists. I can’t imagine how many how touched a one same pole in the bus or the subway within a one hour.
If something turns me on it’s good food with my husband. We got married last year and now that we have finally made our ways to New York, we just go around and eat, eat, eat. It’s insane that there are like dozen different food place in one freaking block. Tex Mex, bakeries, takeaways, vegetarian delis, Chinese… They have more food places in one block than we had in whole Tampere! That’s impressing. Also there are numerous street vendors, selling hot dogs, hamburgers and kebab. I feel so fashionista when I walk down the street hot dog in one hand and handbag in the other. We have also been in Starbucks. It was great and my husband and I got a good glimpse of Lea Michele there. I adore her.
It’s so good to be here. We live in a tiny shoebox apartment in the Upper East Side and we are enjoying ourselves and of course each other very much. I will never regret the day I moved here. I always knew New York would be my home.
